石動山(Sekidosan), opened about 1,300 years ago by 泰澄大師(Taicho Daishi), was the seat of government for the seven countries of 加賀(Kaga), 能登(Noto), 越中(Etchu), 越後(Echigo), 飛騨(Hida), 信濃(Shinano), and 佐渡(Sado). It was considered a sacred mountain where many people gathered. However, during the turbulent times of the Warring States Period and the Meiji Restoration, the current site in 2025 is a place where visitors can look back on history.
